Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to tie Harry Kane down to a new deal this summer, with reports surrounding interest coming from Bayern Munich.
This has been suggested by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been discussing the 28-year-old’s future on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast.
There is reported interest coming from the Bundesliga giants this summer, with Julian Nagelsmann looking to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has departed for Barcelona.
Bayern’s manager has spoken openly about the reported target for the German side, tipping him to do big things in the Bundesliga:
“He could score a lot in the Bundesliga, I don’t know the price, but it’s really tough for Bayern Munich. We’ll see what happens in the future,” said Nagelsmann.
However, Romano believes the Lilywhites have no desire to allow Kane to leave anytime soon and are already looking into the possibility of extending the two years remaining on his current deal.
He said: “Nothing is going to happen [with Bayern]. But also for the future – Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte, they are working together, of course, with Daniel Levy to build the future around Harry Kane.
“Now the atmosphere at Tottenham is completely different – they have Champions League football, Harry Kane seems to be happy with the team, with the atmosphere; of course, he’s English and so to stay in England for him is always the best solution.
“So at the moment, everything is perfect between Tottenham and Kane. They want to offer him a new contract to avoid an attempt from Bayern for next summer, 2023. And so it’s true that Bayern are in love with Harry Kane, but Tottenham have absolutely no intention to let him go – not just this summer, but also for the future.”
TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…
After a turbulent start to the 2021/22 campaign, Kane got back up to speed following the arrival of Antonio Conte in November and played a huge role in their top-four finish.
Will Kane outscore Son this season?
Yes
No
And with what has been an impressive transfer window so far from the north London club, selling Kane would undo all of the progress made and surely infuriate Conte.
But it seems – unlike last year – Kane is happy with Spurs, and according to Alasdair Gold, it seems he would be willing to discuss the idea of a new deal to secure his long-term future in N17, so we believe supporters can rest easy following this latest update.
