Tottenham Hotspur are now set to focus their attention on offloading unwanted players over the next week or two.

This is according to Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking on his YouTube channel about the expectations for the Lilywhites in the final weeks of the summer window.

It has been a busy start for Spurs in the market with six new faces already through the door, however, not many players have said farewell as of yet.

The main departure this summer has seen Steven Bergwijn leave for Ajax in a deal worth around £28m, but no other first-team options have been sold (via Transfermarkt).

But this does not mean Spurs are not trying, with a number of players being linked with an exit from N17 such as Giovani Lo Celso, and Gold believes player sales will be a big focus for Fabio Paratici over the next fortnight.

He said: “This will be phase two of Tottenham’s transfer window – getting some of these players out the door. Because also, I’ve said this before, it impacts what comes next for Tottenham.

“From everything I understand, the idea for now for Spurs is to focus in the next week or two on really getting players out the door.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

We still think Spurs could do with a couple more additions this summer, with attacking midfield clearly being an area that Conte feels would benefit the side.

Do Spurs need more signings this summer?

Yes

No

However, they also have a number of players who need to be shifted this summer so they are not eating away at the wage bill without playing a role under the Italian.

The likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks are players who will fall into that category, with neither playing roles in the pre-season tour, while both are on significant weekly wages.

And as Gold mentioned, depending on which players Spurs can offload, it may flag areas for Conte that need adding to in the final weeks of the window.
