Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are going to be in line for a good 2022/23 campaign.

Premier League outfit Tottenham have been up there with the most active clubs this season in terms of bringing in new players, they have already signed five new players, with the most recent being Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

Ivan Persisic was the first signing that Antonio Conte made this summer, on a free transfer from Inter Milan, where Conte had previously worked with him, so he knows exactly what he is about and what he can bring to the side.

With Spurs already securing five new signings this summer, Merson claimed that they have done a great job so far and are in for a good season next term.

“I’m a massive fan of Ivan Perisic. He’s a top-draw player, and he works his socks off. Antonio Conte knows him well, and the fans will love him because he’s a hard-working player. I think Tottenham have done a great job so far, and I’m afraid they’re in for a good season,” Merson said.

TIF Thoughts on Merson’s comments…

With Spurs clinching fourth spot last season, meaning that they qualified for the Champions League, this has broadened their horizons in terms of attracting new players to the club this summer, and Conte has not wasted anytime when upgrading his squad, in hope that his side can compete in the competition next season, whilst having a successful Premier League campaign.

The Italian may have already brought in several new faces to Spurs this summer, but he is reportedly not stopping there, as Djed Spence and Pau Torres have been heavily linked with a move to the club, as the board have put all their trust in Conte to do what he wants in terms of bringing in new talent.

Despite Spurs competing in the elite European tournament, it is apparent that Merson feels these early additions are putting Conte’s men in position for an impressive campaign.
