Alasdair Gold has warned Tottenham Hotspur to ‘watch out’ for rival clubs coming in for Djed Spence if they delay on the transfer any longer.

For some time now it has looked as though the wingback will be signing for Spurs this summer with The Guardian reporting that a £20m fee had been agreed with Middlesbrough about a month ago.

However, as of yet, no official deal has been finalised and announced. With that in mind, Gold has listen a number of other clubs that have an interest in the player, while urging Tottenham to get the deal done soon or risk losing him.

Indeed, while speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, he said (26:33): “This is the other thing I think they have to watch out for is that they’re not the only club that want Djed Spence, you know.

Dortmund, Roma, Newcastle, Brentford, obviously Forest we know as well. all of these kinds of teams that have been looking at him.

“So if they kind of dilly and dally too long. Then you do open the door for someone else.”

TIF thoughts on Djed Spence and Spurs…

As Gold mentions clubs from the Premier League certainly are chasing the defender, with Newcastle United said to be keen on Spence. While in Europe, while Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with a move.

And so, if Spurs fail to wrap up a deal in the near future – having seemed so close to getting a move across the line – the Middlesbrough man could well be sold to a different side.

The 21-year-old already have plenty of experience in the Championship, but now looks destined to make the step up next season. If he ends up doing so for anyone other than Tottenham, the club may well end up rather embarrassed.

With that in mind, as Gold warns, they’d better act quick so Spence doesn’t slip through their fingers.
