Alasdair Gold has offered his verdict on the potential of Lucas Moura leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Brazilian struggled at times last season, scoring just six times in 45 games in all competitions. Following the arrival of Richarlison this summer, too, competition for places is only going to increase.

Spurs are reportedly open to the notion of allowing Moura to leave this summer with the Brazilian believed to be an option for Everton in the deal for Richarlison.

Yet, according to Gold on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, a move is unlikely. Gold said“Whether Lucas were to go or not. At the moment, that looks unlikely.”

With that said, it looks as though Moura will be left to fight for his place at Tottenham. At 29, and with just two more years left on his contract, however, the winger’s time left at Spurs may just be ticking away.

TIF Thoughts on Lucas Moura…

Moura, who is valued at £18 million (as per Transfermarkt), will always have his place in Spurs history for that hat-trick in Amsterdam against Ajax. It is one of the greatest pieces of drama that the competition has ever produced, with the Brazilian sending Spurs to the Champions League final in the last kick of the game.

Should Spurs sell Lucas Moura?

That legacy will never disappear, but as new players arrive, Lucas could see his minutes on the pitch become far more limited than in prior seasons. We could even see Conte hand him more game-time in cup competitions, rather than the Premier League, including the Champions League, where he would love to recreate that famous aforementioned night.

Next season may just be a campaign where Moura’s experience is more important than his other traits, especially as younger players come through the door at Spurs. Keeping that experience around may just prove to be crucial.
