Joe Wainman has suggested what he believes Leeds United’s transfer plan will be if star winger Raphinha moves this summer.

The Brazilian winger has been linked with a move away all summer, with Chelsea and Barcelona looking the two most likeliest destinations at this stage. Added onto that is the fact that he has not been included in the Leeds United squad that is touring Australia in pre-season, as he looks to get his future sorted.

Speaking on the JustJoe Football Show, Joe Wainman said: “As soon as Raphinha exits, I believe we’ll get a striker.”

It comes as little surprise to hear that Leeds are targeting a striker, given Patrick Bamford’s injury record last season. Having just about avoided relegation in the last campaign, it is clear that Leeds need a player that they can rely on every week to lead the line.

So far this summer, Jesse Marsch has welcomed a number of new arrivals, with winger Luis Sinisterra’s arrivals perhaps suggesting that fellow winger Raphinha is, indeed, leaving the club. Marsch has certainly been backed this summer, however, and now must oversee a good season come August.

TIF Thoughts on Leeds United…

The Yorkshire club will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last season, which saw them battle for survival for most of the campaign. The hope will be that the players that have arrived will slot straight into Marsch’s side.

In his first full season in England, Marsch will desperately be hoping to take Leeds back into the comforts of mid-table.
