Manchester United are now set to officially make Christian Eriksen their second signing of the summer transfer window.

This has been claimed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking about all things transfer-related on the Que Golazo YouTube channel.

It has been reported by the reliable David Ornstein that the Danish playmaker has agreed to put pen to paper on a deal to take him to Old Trafford.

Brentford were also believed to be among the contenders for Eriksen, with another one of his previous sides, Tottenham Hotspur, having cooled their interest in the 30-year-old.

With the medical and the signings of contracts now the only thing separating Eriksen from becoming a United player, Romano expects him to be the next Erik ten Hag signing following Tyrell Malacia:

He said: “They’re just waiting for Christian to undergo medical tests and then sign the contract. They already sent, Manchester United, all the contracts to the player, to his agent. So everything is being checked and then it will be signed.

“So Manchester United at the moment are really optimistic, relaxing. They’re just waiting for Eriksen to undergo the medical and then to sign the contract.

“So it could be the next one after Tyrell Malacia and then we will see what happens with all the other signings they need.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

We really like this expected transfer and feel Eriksen could play a big role in the United side over the course of the coming years at Old Trafford.

There will be a lot of question marks as to who will start: Bruno Fernandes or Eriksen? And we think Ten Hag should relish the potential selection headache.

However, on the back of the form shown by Fernandes last season, we do not think there is any reason why Eriksen will not start ahead of him.

The Dane has obviously had his health issues in the recent past, however, Eriksen is a proven Champions League star who we think certainly has the quality to take Fernandes’ starting spot.
