Leeds United’s next priority will be signing a new striker with two new faces already through the door this week at Elland Road.

This has been suggested by the journalist Pete O’Rourke, who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the Whites’ summer business still to come.

Jesse Marsch has seen his options bolstered this week with the signings of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra already in the last couple of days.

However, one huge area for improvement from last season remains their options at striker with Patrick Bamford missing the majority of the 2021/22 campaign.

But O’Rourke still believes in the coming weeks this will be a position that Victor Orta looks to upgrade with the influx of cash from Kalvin Phillips’ departure and Raphinha’s expected sale.

Asked what Orta’s next priority will be, O’Rourke said: “I still think a striker. Somebody who can maybe play anywhere across the front three. They need goals probably to be added to the team, which was a big problem for them last season with Patrick Bamford’s injury.

“So I think a forward is probably the next top priority for Leeds and maybe somebody to come in at left-back either as cover or as a first-choice I think would be something that Leeds would maybe look at as well.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We absolutely agree with O’Rourke’s comments with a new striker, we feel, being absolutely essential for the Whites going into the new campaign.

What should Leeds sign this summer?

Given Bamford only managed to provide two goals in the Premier League last season it is a minor miracle Leeds were able to retain their top-flight status.

And given two of their top players from last season, Raphiha and Phillips, are not expected to be at Elland Road next season, we do not think Leeds can risk not signing a new striker this summer.
