Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed his confusion over why West Ham United have not announced new contracts for Angelo Ogbonna and Lukasz Fabianski.
At the end of June, the centre-back will see his deal expire (via Transfermarkt), and the same can be said for the goalkeeper – who only signed a one-year extension last year.
However, according to Ex, the pair have actually agreed upon new deals, even though the club have yet to officially announce this fact. This claim is backed up by the fact that the pair were spotted in Scotland as West Ham begin the preparations for the upcoming Premier League season.
Speaking about the matter on The West Ham Way podcast, the club insider outlined his bafflement over the club’s ‘odd’ choice to keep the news a secret.
Ex said (4:42): “I’m not sure why the club haven’t announced it. I mean, we’ve covered it plenty of times on the podcast, but clearly Fabianski and Ogbonna have signed new one year contracts, like I’ve reported.
“Because they’re both gone to Scotland and they’re both in all the photos and stuff.“
“So God knows they have chose not to announce it. It’s a bit odd, yeah. But clearly they have signed a new deal.”
Will Lukasz Fabianski be the number one goalkeeper at West Ham next season?
