Graeme Bailey has been speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast about the double exit which could occur this summer at Manchester United.

It has been reported since last week by Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports that Manchester United were expecting to complete all the formalities between themselves, Ajax and Erik ten Hag for the Dutchman to become their new manager in the summer.

Should Man United sell Ronaldo?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

While that alone will likely bring about a whole load of changes at Old Trafford, there is also the need to potentially freshen up the squad, and that looks likely to happen in the frontline for the Red Devils, despite them bringing in two new attackers just last summer in the form of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The latter is one of two players that Bailey believes could end up leaving Old Trafford this summer.

He said: “Cavani is leaving, we know that. Ronaldo is likely to leave, we know that. So I think if Ronaldo does depart and that frees up his wages, I think we will see a concerted effort for that number nine.”

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

TIF Thoughts on losing Cavani and Ronaldo…

Man United’s current average age stands at 26.9 years old, which sees them sit inside the top 10 for the oldest Premier League squads, but if they were to cut ties with a 35 and 37-year-old, that would drop drastically and offer youth players more of a chance.

Cavani, who managed to net 11 goals in the league last season, has not had the best of times this campaign with just seven starts under his belt, however, Ronaldo has been a lot more involved with 18 goals across all competitions.

But with the attacker certainly starting to reach the latter years of his career, he may not fit into Erik ten Hag’s style of play or even the atmosphere he wishes to create, so it could be best for him to leave despite an impressive personal season on his Old Trafford return.
