90min journalist Sean Walsh has been speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast about how Darwin Nunez would be perfect for Tottenham Hotspur.

Last summer, there were a lot of reports suggesting that Tottenham were looking to bring in another striker to play alongside Harry Kane, with the likes of Danny Ings and Lautaro Martinez being tipped to make a switch, although neither arrived – nor did a striker of any form.

Would you like Spurs to sign Nunez?

No!

It appears that Fabio Paratici clearly saw that Spurs needed at least one more striker to play alongside and offer competition to Harry Kane with the England captain being the only senior striker at the club, which may point toward them looking to sign a striker this summer.

Walsh believes that Benfica man Darwin Nunez would fit the bill perfectly as he explained on the Talking Transfers podcast, while also speaking about fellow countryman Rodrigo Bentancur.

Walsh said: “He [Bentancur] is only 23, 24, so he fits the mould where he’s still young, he’s got a lot to learn, but he’s got a lot of experience as well, and that’s the kind of profile that I think Spurs should be chasing. Nunez fits that bill, for sure.”

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

Interestingly, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp even described the South American as ‘extremely good-looking’, though his looks are not what has earned him this great reputation on the field.

The Uruguayan striker was a January target for West Ham United, who attempted to swoop in with a late £40m bid, although that was swiftly rebuffed and now Benfica’s manager, Nelson Verissimo, has claimed that he hopes Nunez could fetch a similar transfer fee to what they received for Joao Felix, which was £113m.

If that is the case, Spurs may well find themselves with very little chance of prising away Nunez considering that they would need to spend more than £50m on top of their record transfer fee to get Nunez to the Premier League and north London.
