Fabrizio Romano has revealed the major transfer mistake Erik ten hag wants to avoid at Manchester United.

It was recently announced that the Red Devils have agreed a deal in principle for the Ajax boss to take over in the summer.

Would Ten Hag be a success at Man United?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Something that will need to be looked at is the transfer business Man United have done over the last few years, with the likes of Donny van de Beek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho not living up to their price tags, which total £161.1m.

The former is now out on loan at Everton after just four league starts since 2020, Wan-Bissaka has been dropped several times this season and Sancho had just one goal involvement until mid-February.

Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel prior to the latest development on Ten Hag, Romano revealed that the Dutchman would be wanting to avoid transfer mistakes like the one involving Van de Beek if he joined.

He said: “From what I’m told it’s impossible for him to accept a situation like the one with Donny van de Beek – you sign him for €40m, and he knows the situation directly because he knows the player from Ajax, of course. And you sign him for €40m, and then you’re never playing him for three or four consecutive games, so you’re not trusting him.

“This is something that a top club like Man United can’t do in the future, and this is what he wants to avoid.”

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

TIF Thoughts on Van de Beek…

The Dutch midfielder will be praying that Ten Hag can help revive his career once he takes the job at Manchester United, as it could well be his last and potentially only way of getting into the starting lineup at Old Trafford given that the two worked together at Ajax before Van de Beek left the Dutch giants.

But he will at least be relieved that United are all but set to welcome his former boss to Old Trafford considering Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig were said to have sounded out the Dutchman themselves, which would have handed Ten Hag a tough choice to make.
