Newcastle United fans will surely be buzzing to see that Shearer’s bar is returning to St James’ Park.

Under the previous regime of Mike Ashley, he removed what was once known as Shearer’s bar, named after the club’s all-time top scorer, and renamed NINE bar, which never had the same ring to it that many fans wanted.

Will Newcastle win a trophy next season?

Yes!

No!

The bar is connected to St James’ Park, just like Alan Shearer is with the club, so it was only right for it to be handed back to the legendary striker, which is something that PIF promised when they bought the club, as George Caulkin revealed on Pod on the Tyne.

This promise is finally coming to fruition as an image has emerged on Twitter of the traditional sign being put back up on the outside of the bar.

TIF Thoughts on this PIF decision…

Some fans were sickened to see the bar swapped for NINE under Mike Ashley with a whole lot of controversy surrounding the decision, so to see it now changed back with Ashley no longer in sight must make it even sweeter.

While making a lot of promises and speaking well is all very good, as Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi did during their interview with The Athletic, Newcastle fans will be more interested to see if they can fulfil their promises and this is a great way to start.

It’s simple things like this that have seen Newcastle fans welcome their owners with open arms, as well as other actions such as removing Sports Direct signage around and inside the stadium, so if PIF keep up these good gestures then it will likely be a long and fruitful relationship with the Magpies.

In January as well they showed they mean business by helping acquire the services of the likes of Dan Burn, Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Matt Targett and Kieran Trippier, who have all arguably had an influence on the Magpies’ recent recovery with four of the five mentioned appearing in the top five for player ratings (as per WhoScored).
