George Caulkin has been speaking on the Pod on the Tyne podcast about how PIF are set to rename the bar outside of Newcastle United’s stadium.

Newcastle’s all-time top scorer and the man with the most goals in Premier League history, Alan Shearer, was only handed a statue at his boyhood club in 2016 – such was the neglect Mike Ashley had shown towards his former club.

Do Newcastle need another striker?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Something else that Ashley did to distance Shearer from the club he represented for the majority of his career was renaming the bar outside of St. James’ Park, from Shearer’s bar to the Nine bar – although that may not be the case for much longer.

Caulkin has spoken about how this decision could be close to becoming a reality.

“Alan [Shearer] from work is going to get his own bar back again, which is really nice. It’s not ‘potentially’ – that’s happening, that’ll happen very soon.

“And then they’ve started talking and acting on moving his statue back into stadium ground, hopefully one day quite soon, that’ll be next to Bobby somewhere.”

TIF Thoughts on PIF and the decisions they are making…

PIF are clearly doing a lot of things right since becoming the custodians of Newcastle United at the back-end of last year, with the club pumping much-needed money into the club’s transfer budget and playing squad, as well as having already improved aspects of the club from the inside when it comes to removing Sports Direct signs and improving ice baths and warm-down facilities, as detailed by The Athletic.

The people at the forefront of these decisions and making them happen in the public are Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi, who are at almost every single match and have done things such as sending out a New Year’s message to fans and meeting up with the very much neglected women’s football team.

So the more they continue to change little things like this that mean a lot to the supporters will surely only enhance their reputation and relationship with the Toon faithful.
