Celtic fans had a day to remember on Saturday, closing the gap at the top of the table to two points with a last-minute winner, meaning they can go to the summit with victory in Wednesday night’s Old Firm derby.

Liel Abada secured the three points for Ange Postecoglou and the Hoops in the dying stages of their clash with Dundee United today, snatching a 1-0 win despite being a man down after Nir Bitton saw red.

By contrast, their arch-rivals Rangers fell to a late draw at Ross County, conceding in the sixth minute of stoppage time to surrender two points.

Nonetheless, the performance today wasn’t the best from Celtic, with some fans quick to criticise various players for not being up to scratch. Liam Scales at left-back was among those who came in for plenty of flak after a “dreadful” display which some deemed “not good enough”.

What these Celtic fans had to say on Scales

“Scales and Forrest on the left side is scary bad.” @decoboy09

“If I was Forrest and Scales I would be having a serious word with myself right now! Subbed off at half time v Dundee United! Not a good sign.” @Danielh15215783

“Liam Scales is the worst left back at the club.” @MG67_

“Ralston and Scales are slowing this right down.” @JoeMcMenamin14

“Scales and Forrest are not good enough.” @cgy_981205

“Jota on Forrest off. Job done. Scales’ decision making has been dreadful 1st half.” @ryfonzo

It’s clear to see the Hoops faithful are far from impressed with what they saw from Scales, who failed to record any defensive contributions despite his left-back role. He also lost possession 10 times and picked out a team-mate with only one of his four crosses, as per Sofascore.

It appears that Postecoglou wasn’t best pleased either, subbing the Irishman at half-time by replacing him with Josip Juranovic.

Which forward played for Celtic's academy?

Although clearly frustrated with Scales, Celtic fans won’t care one bit after the game. They’ve well and truly kept up the fight to reclaim the Premiership title, even with the 23-year-old far from his best… All eyes to Wednesday!
