Celtic fans were sent into a frenzy this adternoon by a last-gasp winner from Liel Abada which saw Ange Postecoglou’s side close the gap at the top of the Premiership table, despite being down to 10 men for the last few minutes after Nir Bitton’s dismissal.

Despite the win over Dundee United, the performance was far from perfect. While the points are all that matters, some Celtic fans weren’t afraid to make their feelings known on social media about the sub-par performances they had seen from a few Hoops players.

Is James Forrest good enough for Celtic?

James Forrest was one who came in for some particularly scathing criticism from the Parkhead faithful, one of whom branded him an “empty jersey”. The winger was hooked at half-time, showing that Postecoglou shared the same view as plenty of Celtic fans, replacing him with Jota.

What these Celtic fans said

“Get Forrest off for Jota. Offers nothing anymore.” @JoyceConor

“Forrest is an empty Jersey again.” @AJ__1888

“I like Forrest, but it’s clear to see he’s finished. Get Jota on!” @bhoy_inOz

“Tell Jamesy to hang up his boots, he’s finished now.” @hesto_presto

“Forrest is finished. One trick pony who’s lost a yard of pace.” @MD__KV

“Had to be done. Left side was poor. Forrest should be nowhere near that starting 11.” @von_coupon

It’s clear from those responses that many fans were extremely frustrated and annoyed with Forrest. When you consider that he gave away possession eight times in 45 minutes and lost two of his three duels, while also failing to get a shot on target or record a single defensive action (Sofascore), it’s little wonder why he came in for flak from some Celtic supporters who felt that he “offers nothing”.

Which season did Roy Keane join the Hoops?

The main thing that Celtic could take from the game was that they managed to close the gap on arch-rivals Rangers to just two points after their dramatic 3-3 draw with Ross County earlier in the day.

It’s now all to play for on Wednesday in the Old Firm clash at Parkhead. Unfortunately for Forrest, he may have played his way out of the starting XI for that huge encounter based on his performance today.

In other news, this social media post enraged a lot of Celtic fans
