Many Leeds United fans have been responding to the news that Oliver Casey has signed a new deal with the club after the news was relayed on Twitter.
According to the club’s website, the young defender has signed a three-year contract that will run until the summer of 2023. The 19-year-old has been a regular for the Under-23s this season, having made 22 appearances prior to the global pandemic (as per leedsunited.com).
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the news via the social media platform:
This is the dawn of a new era. A new Don Revie is in town. I hope Bielsa realises we expect him to surpass the feats of Revie, Wilkinson and O’Leary.

Do you think Casey can be a long-term replacement for Ben White?
Yes
No
It is understood that Casey’s performances this season have caught Marcelo Bielsa’s eye and that claim is supported by the fact he has been included in the first-team matchday squad on a ‘regular basis’. The defender has made one appearance in the Championship from the bench so far this season and that came in the victory at Huddersfield Town back in December (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). Fans continued to respond to the news.
Brill
Seen him play a few times at 23’s
What a great time and place to be developing the next steps as a footballer
Good luck

Very good news – I have watched most of the U 23 games on LUTV – a lot of good players coming through. Oliver is one of the best in my view. And he has something we are lacking – great physical strength in addition to a good football brain and great tecnique. A great future !
