Actor and Liverpool fan James Sutton has been sharing his thoughts on Reds defender Dejan Lovren and his future at the Merseyside club.
This comes after Sutton recently made a guest appearance on The Redmen TV podcast to go over the latest news concerning Jurgen Klopp’s team.
It was recently reported that Liverpool are planning to extend Lovren’s contract at the club by another year and keep him in their ranks until 2022.
On the topic of Lovren and his future at Liverpool, Sutton shared his thoughts on the Croatian.
He said: “He has given us some good moments, but could you honestly say that he’s improved at all in the past? Not really, for me. I think he’s a bit of a throwback to a previous Liverpool regime and I just think it’s time to move on.
“I’d love us to maybe go out and get another youngster or perhaps someone on the cheap and improve them, because I just don’t see how Dejan Lovren improves as a player. I don’t see how he improves us when he’s on the field. I mean, he’s just a disaster waiting to happen.”
The 31-year-old, who is currently valued at £14.4 million, first signed to Liverpool back in 2014 from fellow Premier League club Southampton for a fee of £22.77 million (per Transfermarkt).
Since then, Lovren has made a total of 185 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions. However, this season has seen the centre-half make just 10 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League, with his last appearance coming against Everton last month.

TIF Thoughts…
It’s a shame that Sutton thinks Lovren shouldn’t be continuing at Liverpool. However, given how the defender has only made 10 league appearances for the Premier League champions this season, maybe he could find more playing minutes at a different club away from Anfield.
