A group of Leeds United supporters have been discussing the results from the latest round of virus testing ahead of the Championship’s planned restart. The Athletic’s Phil Hay shared the results via his Twitter account, confirming there were nine positive tests across six different clubs.
Preston North End, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday have all confirmed positive cases within their ranks (as per Sky Sports). The EFL are planning to restart the Championship on 20th June, despite some clubs openly admitting they have reservations about the whole thing.
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the update via the social media platform.
It’s going to PPG isn’t it. And I’m not entirely sure how I feel about that

Feel like the restart is teetering on a knife edge. Any idea what kind of figures it would take to put thing in serious doubt?

surprised that there isn’t more tbh

I’m not feeling confident about this being a good idea. Still think the right thing to do is treat players as being injured or suspended, but it’s a rather worrying position.

Are you concerned the restart date proposed is too soon?
Yes
No
Despite plans being in place for the league to resume in just over two weeks, it appears many of these Leeds United supporters have reservations about whether or not the competition will be concluded without the number of positive cases creeping up again, leading to another potential stoppage. Fans continued to react to Hay’s post.
Reckon thats half the teams with current on going cases? @PhilHay_ with 6 clubs and 8 from the last 2 rounds?? Doubts starting to creep in

The EFL have given no indication that the current numbers warrant plans for the return of the Championship to be abandoned, at least not publicly. Leeds are currently top of the division, seven points clear of Fulham in third and will surely be desperate for a return to the top flight for the first time since their relegation at the end of the 2003/04 season. Therefore, if it comes down to the final standings being decided using an unweighted points-per-game model, which would see the Whites promoted, we’re sure they would take it.
