Many Leeds United fans have flocked to Beren Cross’ tweet in which he shares the news that the Football Association has opened up an investigation with regards to Aleksandar Mitrovic’s elbow during the weekend’s fixture. Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites beat Fulham at Elland Road on Saturday to take another significant step towards achieving automatic promotion.
Goals from Patrick Bamford, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison saw the Yorkshire-based giants open up an eight-point lead between themselves and Brentford in third place. During the game, there was an incident in which Mitrovic appeared to elbow Ben White and as per Cross’ post, the authorities are now investigating the incident.
Here is how a sample of the Leeds United faithful have responded.
If there is no ban, the @EFL will have shown themselves for what they are…

It’s the FA, So Ben White will probably get done for simulation

Ban will be deserved, could have broke White’s jaw and put him out for season. 100% he went to hurt him!!! #lufc

Do you expect Mitrovic to be banned?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that whilst these fans are certain Mitrovic should be punished, you get the impression that they don’t have much faith in the FA to do the right thing. Many continued to make their feelings known in the replies.
They’ll probably say it was ‘face to elbow’ and ban White.

The referee Tony Harrington took no action at the time despite the incident leaving White on the floor for the best part of a minute (as per Leeds Live).
We await the FA’s decision regarding the matter, however, the footage is certainly damning for the Serbian striker and if he is handed a ban it could have an impact on where Fulham end up finishing this season given he is the division’s top goalscorer alongside Ollie Watkins (via BBC).
