Supporters of Leeds United have been flocking to a tweet that was recently shared to social media by the Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Graham Smyth.
On Monday, the journalist quote tweeted an article which had been posted to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Twitter account.
The article shared quotes from former Leeds striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink that were made on Sky Sports in which he stated the club should “forget about style” to achieve promotion.
Smyth then stated: ‘The use of the word style will inevitably raise heckles, but note he’s not actually calling for a change in identity.’
Lots of the Elland Road faithful then flocked to this post to have their say.

The thing is though, when style and identity come hand in hand, like they do with our team, how do you change one and not the other?
His comments didn’t really make much sense to me with perspective, because he also said that being creative is more difficult than countering

Yeah, if he’s saying we need to change style but not identity then what he’s really saying is that we should play better, which is obvious. The players are capable of playing better, they have played better and they’re likely to play better.

The comments from the Dutchman came after the Whites suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Cardiff City upon their return to Championship action on Sunday (per BBC).
The ‘style’ has worked most of the season, and elevated some average players to promotion contenders. Need the players to step up just.

One thing JFH is consistent about is the need for a real striker, he says it everytime he gives analysis on Leeds. I do love Jimmy.

The 48-year-old manager was a Leeds player between 1997 and 1999, having arrived from Boavista Porto FC and departed for Atletico Madrid (per Transfermarkt).
The Whites had paid £2.5m to secure his services initially and made a huge profit two years later when he was sold to the Spanish outfit for £15.03m.
Do you agree with what Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had to say?No, he was wrongYes, he was right |
Seen him be a pundit for a few Leeds matches on sky and every time he seems a bit bitter like he wants the Leeds job and doesn’t understand Bielsa ball
— James Howson (@BigJimmy_V) June 22, 2020
He used to be very positive about us, but then Sky didn’t have him on for a while and he’s come back more negative.

As can be seen in these responses from Leeds supporters, there was a mixed bag of replies after Smyth’s tweet shared what the former striker had to say.
