Leeds United are yet to take any legal advice regarding a possible scenario where they are denied promotion to the Premier League, however, they’re quietly positioning themselves to lobby for promotion, according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.
The Whites are due to report back at their Thorp Arch training ground on May 16 unless there is any further guidance from the authorities. However, as mentioned by Hay in his article: “There is still every chance that when it comes to playing out the rest of the season, the EFL will have the rug pulled from under it by circumstances beyond its control.”
If that was to happen and the Premier League were to decide against relegation as is being suggested, the Whites could find themselves missing out unless there are plans to have additional teams in next season’s competition. Here’s what some of the Elland Road faithful have had to say on the matter.
Certain club’s agenda’s are becoming very apparent it seems. All of a sudden the health issue becomes less of a problem when the threat of relegation is removed. All getting a bit grubby now

I’d rather win it by finishing all the games,I don’t want us to be promoted any other way,we’d be forever known as the team that got promoted by default,I don’t care about any other team in any other league

They can’t do that

Football league has been around a hell of a lot longer than the prem… about time they stood up for there teams and leagues instead of just accepting what prem says

Are you concerned Leeds could be forced to remain in the Championship for another season?
Yes
No
We deserve to be promoted and we should fight our corner if denied our rightful place in the premier league.

Lobbying for promotion might be fruitless, they have no claim for promotion unless they get the job done on the pitch. Unfortunately cancelling the season would leave them at the mercy of the Premier League and EFL.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that there is some concern amongst the Leeds supporters that they could find themselves missing out on promotion despite their position in the Championship.
