Liverpool fans on Twitter have been reflecting on Zeljko Buvac’s departure from the Merseyside club.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page marking the two-year anniversary of Buvac’s exit from the club after working as Jurgen Klopp’s assistant manager for 17 years.
The page also captioned their post asking their followers what their thoughts on Buvac’s departure were at the time and if those thoughts have changed since.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were eager to share their views on the matter.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
Today marks 2 years to the day that then assistant manager and Jürgen Klopp’s right-hand man of 17 years, Zeljko Buvac left Liverpool.
What do you remember your thoughts being at the time and have they changed since? pic.twitter.com/LH0mFhUfmL

I was scared as I knew he was credited as the brains behind any Klopp team. Thought we’d lose some tactical prowess. However I prefer the football we play now. we just control the ball always and wait for the perfect moment to release the free flow attack Buvac helped mastermind.

Have Liverpool missed having Buvac at the club?
Yes
No
Buvac left the Merseyside club back in April 2018 for personal reasons (per BBC Sport). In February 2020, it was revealed that Buvac had been named sporting director of Russian side Dynamo Moscow. Now that the question has been put to these Liverpool fans to reflect on how they felt then and how they feel now about Buvac’s departure, this sparked a big discussion on Twitter.
i remember being terrified at the time
we have been able to build a stronger side since then and i obviously love this current side but i’d take him back in a heart beat
watching us play was just more entertaining back then ????

I think he was a reason we played such heavy metal football since he left we’ve became more composed for the better

What do we think?
It seems as though while some Liverpool fans may have been suspicious and slightly wary of Buvac’s sudden departure from Anfield at the time, others are split on whether he is missed at the club at this moment in time.
