A lot of Leeds United fans have replied to a tweet from Graham Smyth, showing an incident involving David Batty while he was with Newcastle United.
The video shows Alan Shearer in a tussle with Neil Lennon (0:01), and while Lennon is on the floor, Newcastle’s striker kicks the Northern Irishman in the chest. (0:03)
Shearer then goes to check on Lennon before walking away. (0:08)
Batty then comes charging over and moves Lennon’s legs off the pitch (0:12) while he is receiving medical attention – presumably, so Newcastle can get back on with the match.
This tweet has gone down well with many Leeds fans though judging by some of the replies; some seem to think that it was Batty and not Shearer who kicked Lennon.
What do you think about this Batty moment?

What do we think?
First of all, this is a brutal kick (0:03) from the Premier League’s top goalscorer. Yes, Lennon was all over him (0:03), but to practically assault him like that seems unnecessary.
Batty’s role in this incident is rather innocent really as he simply moves Lennon’s legs (0:12) probably so Newcastle can continue the match.
The tweet, though, has still gone down well with many Leeds fans.
