The BBC’s Adam Pope recently posted a tweet sharing that “the idea of three teams being promoted and no relegation [is] clearly being talked about”, which has caught the attention of some Leeds United fans.
BBC colleague Ian Dennis recently posted a tweet stating that discussions “about three promotions from every division and no relegations” have taken place between EFL clubs, as they consider ways of potentially ending the 2019/20 season which has officially been postponed since 13 March as a result of the current viral outbreak.
Pope subsequently shared this news via a tweet of his own which got some Leeds fans talking. Many of the Leeds fans who have been responding to Pope’s tweet have been discussing how relegation could potentially be handled if the 2019/20 season can’t be completed.

Don’t get this mixture business of promotion and no relegation. The teams are where they are on merit after 80% of the season has been complete. PPG across the board is the only fair option, baffles me how people can think otherwise.

Relegation goes hand in hard with promotion

I would love to play the remaining games but it’s not going to be possible, only way forward in my view is top 3 promoted and no relegation, its the scenario that has the best outcome for as many teams as possible #lufc

Should Premier League teams be relegated if this season can't be played to a finish?YES, THEY SHOULD BE RELEGATEDNO, LET THEM STAY UP |
Imagine 6 teams getting relegated the following season be absolute carnage.

But 14 PL teams have to vote for it, Adam? It’s a bit like turkeys voting for Xmas if 5 are to be relegated next season? However fair and reasonable it looks, don’t expect the likes of Ms Brady to give the thumbs up; hope I’m wrong

If 3 teams go up from championship and the 3 teams from pl don’t get relegated then instead of having 3 relegations u would have 6 to sort the numbers out for following season

What do we think?
Considering that Leeds currently sit in first place on the Championship table, it may be understandable why some of their fans may be taking a particularly keen interest in the discussions surrounding the handling of promotion and relegation, as it may be fair to say that they were in a promising position to earn promotion to England’s top-flight for the first time since they were relegated back in the 2003/04 season, prior to the postponement of the 2019/20 campaign.
