A group of Liverpool supporters have been discussing rumours of former midfielder Xabi Alonso potentially being on his way to Manchester City to become Pep Guardiola’s assistant (via Goal.com).
The report suggests the 38-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Mikel Arteta, who worked under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss between July 2016 and December 2019 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Alonso represented the Reds on 210 occasions, scoring 18 goals (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). He also tasted UEFA Champions League glory with the club in the 2004/05 season before leaving for Real Madrid in August 2009 for £31.05m.
How have these Liverpool fans responded to the news their former star could potentially join one of their biggest rivals?

What do we think?
Based on the above replies, it appears the supporters are torn on whether they would be happy to see Alonso join Manchester City. The report does emphasise that no decision has been made, but given these two clubs have gone toe-to-toe in recent seasons, we can understand why this could potentially upset some of the Anfield faithful.
