A lot of Leeds United fans have replied to a post from Twitter user @andrew_rawling, who suggested that if Leeds had found themselves in third place, then the EFL would have finished the season and promoted the top two weeks ago.
The Championship is currently suspended indefinitely, and although the plan from the EFL is to finish the season, some think that it won’t be possible, and the rest of the year for most leagues will have to be cancelled.
Certainly, these Whites fans believe that the EFL would find some way to deny them promotion.
Do you think the EFL would have done this to Leeds?
Yes
No
Does anybody else think that the EFL would have finished the Season & promoted the top two weeks ago if LUFC had been in Third place?#MOT

They are looking at 9 points deduction for teams with the letters DEL and S in their name .. then adjust table and promote top two .. we look like just being unlucky again

What do we think?
Leeds are top of the league and have a seven-point gap to Fulham in third place – meaning if the season was ended now and promotion was to be decided, then the Whites would be in the Premier League.
If the season eventually restarts, then the Whites could win promotion considering that gap to third place gives them a good buffer.
However, we are not sure that the EFL would have called the season a few weeks ago if the Whites were not one of the top two as they seem determined to finish the 2019/20 season.
