Leeds United’s players and senior staff have agreed on a wage deferral to deal with the impact of the recent viral outbreak. The club released an official statement via their website on Thursday morning confirming what Phil Hay had reported via Twitter.
Here is how some of the fans have responded to the update.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be any prouder of my club. These players are a huge credit to our club!

Well in boys ??? just goes to show that not only do we have a very talented hard working squad of players but we also have a fantastic humane and caring group. Couldn’t ask for a better group, we haven’t had one like this in centuries

Are you proud to see the players and senior staff pulling together to support the wider team?

Great news for now but deferral usually means they’ll get the money back in the future. Add this to the transfer money we are committed to (Costa, Kev, etc) and there isn’t going to be a great deal of promotion money left for new players.

What do we think?
It’s clear that these supporters are proud of their club and the willingness of the players and senior staff to accept these measures means that the club will not suffer during these difficult times. English football is currently suspended until 30 April at the earliest in the interests of public safety, and therefore the Whites will need to wait for the opportunity to achieve promotion back into the Premier League.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won their last five league fixtures and currently sit top of the Championship. They have not played in the top flight since they were relegated at the end of the 2003/04 season and as frustrating as this pause in the season is, given they’ve waited this long, surely another few months isn’t going to hurt.
