Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has exclusively told Football Insider that Teemu Pukki would be an “obvious” signing for the Whites if they are promoted to the Premier League.

Here’s exactly what he had to say:

“It is where does he go and what sort of fee would he command. Does he want to leave Norwich? He is the obvious one.

“He is a goalscorer and he has proven he can do it. A good position and the way that Leeds play…

“But Bielsa is a funny one and a canny one at times. He could bring in somebody completely left-field. He may well use his contacts in South-America or Spain to bring in somebody.

“I think it would be obvious that they would have to bring somebody of quality in the centre-forward position if they get promoted.”

Mills, who played over 100 times for the Yorkshire club highlighted the Finland international when asked who his former employers should be looking at in the event they return to the top-flight for the first time since their relegation at the end of the 2003/04 season.

TIF Tactics – An upgrade on Bamford?

Pukki has been one of the few positives in what’s been a largely disappointing season for the Canaries so far. The 29-year-old started the season brilliantly, scoring six goals in his first five Premier League games including a hat-trick versus Newcastle United at Carrow Road (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Although he’s failed to score in any of his last five league appearances, with a current tally of 11 goals he has perhaps already exceeded expectations many may have had of him at the start of the campaign.

At what date do the EFL intend to resume matches after temporarily suspending games due to the viral outbreak?

His average performance rating this season currently stands at 6.7/10 according to WhoScored.com which is the eighth-best in the team. Therefore you could argue that despite his impressive goal return, consistency has been hard to come by for the striker.

Formerly of Celtic and Brondby, his strengths lie in his ability to finish goalscoring opportunities and hold up the ball in order to allow his teammates to advance forward in support of him (via WhoScored.com).

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Pukki is currently valued at £9m but it remains to be seen whether Marcelo Bielsa is an admirer of the forward and feels he can offer more to the side than his current striker Patrick Bamford.
