A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to a tweet from Phil Hay after Marcelo Bielsa confirmed that Ian Poveda would not be in the squad for the Whites’ game with Huddersfield Town.
Hay was then asked why the 20-year-old would not be involved, and The Athletic reporter said that Bielsa has not said that he is missing because of fitness issues but that for one reason or another, he is not making the cut for Bielsa’s squad.
Do you want to see Poveda in the first team soon?
Yes, be good to see him
No, needs to earn his chance
This has drawn a large reaction from these Leeds fans who are either slating Poveda or speculating on why he is not playing.
Bielsa has never said it's specifically about fitness issues (he made a couple of squads if you remember) but suffice to say, he's not making the cut for the 18. #lufc

I’ve watched him a couple of times for the u23’s and looked way off. I am no expert but I can fully understand him not being involved based on what I have seen so far. It’s not about fitness this one it’s more about where he currently is at form and ability wise.

No better than what we have in the 23’s and from what I’ve seen JKA is no better than Bamford which begs the question, why did we bring them in when Bielsas policy has always been “if they are better than what we have we will look at players” or words to that effect

I’m sure he had these issues at Man City, dropped from the squad and his attitude went downhill, maybe the same happening here?

Two amazing signings. Let’s hope current squad keep doing it and Roberts keeps fit!

He’s never recovered from Alioski giving him that death stare for celebrating with the rest of the team.

What do we think?
Poveda joined from Manchester City in January but has only managed to make the bench twice, never mind make an actual first-team appearance.
As Hay shows in his tweet, he is unsure why Poveda has missed out on the last six squads.
However, we think that Poveda should just knuckle down work hard in training, and maybe he will get back in Bielsa’s plans.
