A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to @LUFCDATA’s tweet about Niall Huggins’ goal for the Whites’ Under-23s yesterday.
The Leeds youngster attempted to whip a cross into the box, but instead, his effort rolled along the floor and into the far corner, and the Leeds media team took delight in teasing Huggins for his goal.
Were you surprised at this statistic?
Yes
No
However, LUFCDATA revealed that no Whites first-team player has scored a direct free-kick since 2017.
The scorer on that occasion was Pablo Hernandez, but this statistic shocked and appalled some Leeds fans.
'Great strike' or not, Niall Huggins has just managed to do what no first team Leeds player has managed since December 2017 – score a direct free-kick (Pablo Hernandez's Boxing Day effort v Burton). #LUFC https://t.co/8E4SZiNcYm

What do we think?
The fact that Leeds have not scored from a direct free-kick since 2017 is quite remarkable, and though it is not a huge concern, it is just another way in which the Whites cannot seem to score.
It will be interesting to see who is the next Leeds player to score a direct free-kick.
