Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is on the radar of Marcelo Bielsa’s Championship giants Leeds United in the ongoing January transfer window.

A report from FootballInsider247 claims that the Peacocks are looking to add a striker in the January window, with the report saying that they have hit the stumbling blocks to sign multiple strikers this month. A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Griffiths is one of the names on the radar and they can make a move for the Scottish striker with ten days to go in January.

Out of favour at Parkhead

Celtic recently signed Polish striker Patryk Klimala as their first January signature for a reported fee of £3.4million. The club now has three striker options with Odsonne Edouard, Klimala and Griffiths their options in attack.

As for Griffiths, he has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops this season. He has scored four times so far, with his fourth goal coming at the weekend in a Scottish Cup fourth round game against Partick Thistle. This was his first goal since his return from injury early in the season.

Griffiths’ hamstring injury had seen him miss 15 games and the striker had also missed the second half of last season due to mental health issues. He had taken a break from the game, because of that.

The Hoops having three options in attack makes sure that they don’t have any shortages in that department. Griffiths scoring recently is a bonus for them and could be an indication of how he can get back to goalscoring form.

If the club does sell Griffiths, they would need another striker this month and that will not be an easy thing to do in the ongoing January transfer window.
