Many Leeds United fans have expressed their concern over Tyler Roberts’ international call up to Ryan Giggs’ Wales squad for the upcoming break.

Roberts joined from West Brom U23’s in January 2018 for £2.57m, according to the information collected by Transfermarkt.

So far this Championship season, the 20-year-old has managed to play 197 minutes, which includes just one start. That’s not too bad for a player of his age, and maybe that’s the reason why Leeds fans are being so protective over their youngster.

One fan even suggested Marcelo Bielsa’s side should look to do what Arsenal did with Kieran Tierney and ask for their player to be excluded from the upcoming international showdowns.

Not all the replies were injury concerned fans, many of them also took the time to congratulate their young star.

What Do We Think?

It’s unlikely Roberts will play a crazy amount of minutes while away with Wales, but fans a clearly concerned about the extra game time the 20-year-old could be exposed to against Azerbaijan and Hungary, despite him only having an average WhoScored rating of 6.42/10 in the Championship so far this season.

The Welshman should be very proud to be playing international football, even though he’s only played six times for Leeds this season, Ryan Giggs must see the talent and potential in the young midfielder to continually call him into his national set-up.
