Sun reporter Alan Nixon delivered his verdict on the link between Qatar Sports Investments and Leeds United and shared it was odd if discussions were only about exchanging 10% of the club.

The Financial Times previously reported that Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) were in talks to buy a stake in Leeds with current owner Andrea Radrizzani only inclined to sell a minority stake in the club.

However the New York Times have since reported that QSI chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi, who also owns Paris Saint-Germain, met on Monday with Radrizzani to talk about him potentially investing.

The American newspaper then added that the talks could eventually lead to a “full buyout” of the Championship club.

While this may be seen as a dubious claim at first reading, as originally it seemed only a small stake was possible to get, Nixon’s verdict certainly adds fuel to the fire.

The national journalist was asked about the QSI-Leeds link and shared there had been a meeting but he doesn’t understands why PSG owners would want something like 10% of the club.

Nixon noted it didn’t make sense from their perspective as it was unclear what they were getting for their money.

“Been a meeting. May be a deal. Don’t know what’s in this for PSG. Odd,” wrote Nixon on his personal Twitter account.

“Don’t see what’s in it for the Qataris if it’s only 10 per cent. A a few quid for Leeds. Fair enough. But what are Qataris getting for their cash …”

So with that in mind surely the New York Times’ claim that a potential full buyout of Radrizzani is on the cards is believable.

As it’s hard not to agree with Nixon on the links, as why would the owners of PSG only want a small percentage of Leeds?

They wouldn’t have full control, wouldn’t be able to completely put their stamp on the club and would just be throwing money at something that might not see a decent return on?

So with that in mind, while takeover rumours and stories such as this seem to vary from publication to publication, it’s hard not to believe the New York Times when you consider Nixon’s opinion.
