Tottenham are surely sweating about their chances of winning the race for Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as Jamie O’Hara seems confident that Manchester City might try to make a move for him.

The Independent  reported on Monday that Manchester United had moved ahead of Spurs, Liverpool and Man City in the race for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Even though reliable outlet Football Insider previously reported that Spurs had made contact with the Foxes over Maddison in order to find out his price tag is £60million.

Yet even if the thought of Man United moving to the front of the queue for the playmaker wasn’t enough, O’Hara’s thoughts on the player sure will have Spurs sweating over getting him.

The Sky Sports pundit, despite his Spurs connection, seemed to think that Man City were the most likely team to try to sign the Leicester midfielder as he suited what they needed.

O’Hara even reminded everyone that Pep Guardiola had previously spoken highly about Maddison, he called him incredible previously (Source: Manchester Evening News) which could be a sign he’d go all out to get him.

“I have a sneaky suspicion they might try to sign Maddison as he is another one that is young, hungry and Guardiola talks really well about him,” said O’Hara on Sky Sports News (13:31, Monday June 3rd).

Maddison is a fantastic player who is young, so is set to get better, and Premier League proven.

The playmaker scored seven goals and assisted seven in his 38 appearances in his 2018/19 campaign, and was involved in a staggering 27% of Leicester’s league goals (Source: Transfermarkt).

Given that Mauricio Pochettino’s side could do with a midfielder who could boost their goal threat as it surely would help them improve on their fourth-placed finish in the league next season.

Also given that O’Hara seems to hype the link between Maddison and Man City in particular, surely that will make everyone at Spurs nervous?

After all while it would be frustrating enough not to sign the talented midfielder, but if he goes to the team that finished 27 points ahead of the club in the table; surely that spells another season without winning the Premier League for Spurs as Man City will be stronger with the playmaker.

So with that in mind Spurs are surely sweating over O’Hara remarks and perhaps that will lead them to acting swiftly for Maddison if they’re truly keen.
