The season may be over and spy gate may be a distance memory but that didn’t stop Jim White taking an unnecessary dig at Leeds United over the whole incident once again.

The broadcaster took a dig at Leeds using the spy scandal, where Marcelo Bielsa’s spy was caught watching Derby train ahead of facing them (Source: BBC), to stress that the club had shown a lack of dignity.

“Even spy gate, a lot of people said why are you on about spy gate, Jim White, there’s nothing to this, you’re making a mountain out of a molehill, no we weren’t, there’s a lack of dignity involved there Danny,” stressed White on talkSPORT (12:13, Tuesday May 28th).

This prompted Danny Mills to quickly respond and appear as if he was one of the people who believes White made too much of the spy scandal.

“I disagree, I don’t think there was too much wrong with that,” said Mills.

Yet despite this, White didn’t stop and continued criticising Leeds for the incident that dominated the media in January.

“If you’re gonna see someone train, your opponents train, here’s an idea…be invited,” said White.

However Mills wouldn’t budge and ended up making Whites’ anger over spy gate look foolish in expert fashion by highlighting no rules were broken.

“We’d all take that option, they did nothing wrong, simple as that,” said the former Leeds player.

“What’s worst diving or watching somebody train? (White said diving).

“There you go then, Derby did it in the play-off, game near the end of the season, where they won a penalty, but they didn’t get punished and that was breaking the rules.”

White openly admitted diving was worse and Mills had an example, Tom Lawrence’s dive against West Bromwich Albion, to show how despite simulating contact being an offence in football, the Rams attacker escaped punishment.

The fact the talkSPORT broadcaster wasn’t firing shade in Derby’s direction was telling that his dig at Leeds was unnecessary especially when you consider the club were fined (Source: BBC) for the spy scandal.

Given that Mills effectively put White in his place, hopefully that’s the last time he brings up spy gate.
