Adrian Durham suggested a new chant regarding Leeds United after the club confirmed Marcelo Bielsa was staying on as manager.

The broadcaster shared that he thought people should start chanting “Leeds are putting themselves back together…again” which was clearly a more positive version of the “Leeds, Leeds are falling apart again” that rival fans have been known to sing.

Durham made the suggestion after the Whites’ official website confirmed Bielsa had signed on for next season, even though he admitted the chant didn’t exactly work perfectly.

“”Leeds are putting themselves back together…again, OK it doesn’t scan, I know,” wrote Durham on his verified Twitter account.

OPINION

It’s easy to assume that Durham’s chant suggestion is his way of approving of Leeds tying down Bielsa for another season. The broadcaster spent a lot the 2018/19 campaign heaping praise on the experienced manager and the job he was doing at Leeds, so this should be no surprise. In fact Durham previously heaped praise on Bielsa not just for his management skills when on talkSPORT but for his general class. It’s easy to see why Durham is so taken with Bielsa and you’d struggle to find a Leeds fan who doesn’t agree with the broadcaster. Bielsa arrived at Elland Road last summer and transformed the club for the better. The experienced manager somehow turned a squad that were previously more likely to be fearing relegation than anything, into a nearly promotion-winning side. Given that Bielsa has agreed to stay for at least another season, you feel that the club might hand him the tools needed in the summer to help him get the Whites over the line in the 2019/20 campaign.
