Many Leeds United fans can take pride in the fact Bradley Johnson had to warn his Derby County teammates about the atmosphere at Elland Road.

Derby beat Leeds 4-2 at Elland Road in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final and Johnson has now revealed that he had to tell the likes of Harry Wilson and Mason Mount to prepare themselves to play a game with such a fierce atmosphere.

“To do it away from home in such a fierce atmosphere was something not many players will experience again especially the young lads so we had two days off then came back in after that with our main focus on Monday,” said Johnson on talkSPORT (Friday May 24th, 14:59).

“Myself being at Leeds for many years, knew what to expect at Elland Road and I spoke to a few of them Mounty and H before the game and told them what to expect as when their crowd get behind their team they are a real force.

“I gave them that little bit of experience of what to expect.”

Johnson highlighted how when Leeds fans get behind their side at Elland Road then their team turn into a real force, and many Leeds supporters can take pride in the fact they aid their team so much, players had to be briefed on the crowd.

While the Rams did overcome Leeds away from home to many people’s surprise, it wasn’t due to the fans not creating a fantastic atmosphere for the game to be played in.

Leeds fans were vocal throughout and just as an important role to play next season while hopefully rooting for their club as they mount a promotion bid once again.

Johnson, who played for Leeds 137 times, knows Leeds fans very well from his time and the club and the fact he hasn’t forgotten how influential they can be should have many buzzing.
