Dean Ashton claimed Leeds United had a right to moan about their fixture list compared to Sheffield United as they were set to always be put under pressure.
The pundit analysed the run-in of both clubs and pointed out Leeds have every right to say it’s not fair as Sheffield United play before them four times in a row.
Ashton noted how that enables the Blades to put the pressure on their promotion rivals just like they did on Friday by beating Nottingham Forest ahead of Leeds facing Wigan.
“Yeah they’d have ever right to say it’s not really fair as Sheffield United can put the pressure on like they did today,” said Ashton on Quest’s EFL Highlight Show (22:18, Friday April 19th).

While Ashton believes Leeds are justified in feeling hard done by over the fixture list, it’s not like it’s going to change. Marcelo Bielsa’s side knew that they were going to have to deal with the pressure of being promotion contenders and they should be able to take Sheffield United consistently playing before them in their stride. While Leeds did end up suffering a surprise 2-1 loss to Wigan on Saturday, it wasn’t a result of the team knowing that Sheffield United had won their game earlier that day. Bielsa’s side dominated their clash with Wigan and it was simply due to poor finishing in front of goal, that they ended up not getting all three points. With this in mind, you feel if Leeds do feel aggrieved by how the run-in has worked out slightly in favour of their Championship rivals, they should respond to their frustration in the best way possible by taking it out on their opposition.
