OPINION
West Ham were leading 1-0 against Leicester on Saturday before Jamie Vardy went and equalised for them. It seems as though the fans here are heaping all of the blame onto defender Fabian Balbuena for not keeping a proper eye on Vardy near the back post, and to be honest, they are absolutely right. One supporter said he was caught “napping” in the lead up to the goal – they are spot on, especially against the likes of Vardy, who can be lethal in that position. One has even questioned why he is starting ahead of his 22-year-old teammate Issa Diop, someone who has been dropped to the bench in recent weeks, which does seem a bit harsh. Apart from the instance where he lost Vardy, Balbuena showed why he deserved to be in the starting XI ahead of the Frenchman – anyway, Lucas Perez managed to spare his blushes by making it 2-1 before Leicester equalised in stoppage time to make it 2-2.
