Jack Harrison continued his outstanding recent form with another dazzling show for Leeds United in their 3-0 demolition of Reading on Tuesday night.

Many United fans could have taken or left the winger a few months ago, when the jury was still out on the success of his season-long loan from Manchester City.

Not any more. Whites worshippers are drooling like never before over the quick feet, inventiveness and industry of the 22-year-old, who has shone since being moved to the left flank.

Harrison did not get on the scoresheet against Reading, but his contribution was integral to the win that lifted Leeds back up to the Championship summit and left them in rude health ahead of Saturday’s showdown against Sheffield United.

The City loanee was hit and miss in the opening half of the campaign, which yielded just a single goal and no assists for him, pretty underwhelming for an attacking player.

But he has been far more decisive of late, with three goals and three assists from 28 league appearances – 23 of which have been starts – demonstrating his calibre and growing effectiveness.

Harrison has been impressive in the consecutive wins over QPR, West Brom and Reading, and he is starting to look like a player Leeds can’t do without.

The promotion hopefuls must look to sign him permanently ahead of the summer window from the Premier League champions.

Harrison isn’t realistically going to challenge for the City first team, but would be a shrewd signing for Leeds after coming on leaps and bounds under Bielsa in recent months.
