You can tell it’s getting to the business end of the season, where every result matters and delivers a new twist. Emotions were running high among Leeds United fans on Friday night, and their team was not even playing. Instead, their automatic promotion rivals Norwich City were in action, in a live televised fixture against Swansea City. Daniel Farke’s side prevailed through the game’s only goal, an outstanding one, from Emi Buendia, to secure a 1-0 win and go five points clear at the top of the Championship. Without being close to their best, Norwich held on to claim their sixth win in seven games to not only extend their lead over second-placed Leeds but also move seven points clear of Sheffield United in third. Plenty of Leeds fans on social media are convinced their side, who travel to sixth-placed Bristol City today, are now playing for second place and that the Canaries can’t now be toppled from their perch.
