Leeds United senior duo Kemar Roofe and Adam Forshaw are unlikely to feature against Sheffield United in Saturday’s top-of-the-table showdown, according to Phil Hay.

Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, the correspondent claimed the pair are working to overcome knee injuries but are not expected to be back for the eagerly anticipated Elland Road fixture.

Hay reports Marcelo Bielsa is set to name an unchanged starting XI for the sixth consecutive match following Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

OPINION

The way things are going for Leeds, Roofe and Forshaw could face herculean tasks to get back into the team. During their absences, United have continued to thrive and produced two of their best performances of the season – which is saying something, given the champagne football played during Bielsa’s reign – in destroying Reading and West Brom in their last three games, all of which have been won. Roofe has missed five fixtures with a knee injury, and Forshaw seven, and both might not be available, it seems, until the 30 March fixture against Millwall at the earliest. Being fit and being selected by Bielsa are two completely different things. Just ask Izzy Brown, who made the bench for Tuesday’s match, again, but was once again ignored by the manager, and has had just nine minutes of senior action since returning from 13 months out. Bielsa is not one for rotating, or resting, players. He simply prefers to pick the same team. And, with Leeds flying high, who can blame him for that?
