OPINION
Pontus Jansson goes into a much-deserved 10-day break with his reputation at an all-time high among the Leeds United faithful. The Elland Road cult hero scored the first of the team’s goals in their 2-1 triumph over Swansea City on Wednesday night and delivered a masterful defensive performance that showed once again why he is one of the best centre-backs in the Championship. Leeds fans are certainly well aware of the excellence of the 28-year-old, who has been such a titan since joining from Torino, initially on loan, in the summer of 2016. That has proved to be an excellent acquisition, and Jansson has taken his game to a new level under the shrewd management of Marcelo Bielsa. The 6ft 5in giant makes no attempt to hide how hard the Argentine works the squad, and he provides more insight into Bielsa’s methods than possibly any other Leeds player, but the rewards look closer than ever to coming as the team head into a short break at the Championship summit. Suffice to say, Leeds fans have plenty of great things to say about Jansson.

Toss up between Phillips and Jansson for MoM but a good all round performance, should have been nearer 4-0 though!

How good were Cooper, Jansson and Phillips last night? Both individually and as a unit, immense! #LUFC

Unreal performance from Pontus last night. 15 ball recoveries is ridiculous. He was everywhere! ??

Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper are the best pairing centre backs since Maldini and Nesta. Change my mind.

Good performance tonight. Pontus and Kalvin outstanding as usual. Decent refereeing performance for a change, let the game flow. Great attendance also. Nice to be top again with a well earned break coming up for the boys ??
