Leeds United could follow up the capture of Swansea City winger Daniel James by signing a new No 10 this month, according to Phil Hay.
The Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent reported in a Twitter exchange with a supporter about January arrivals that the club want the James deal “done ASAP (as soon as possible)”.
Hay added there is no other potential signing “in the pipeline” but pointed out the club “were open” to recruiting a playmaker earlier in the window and predicted “something could materialise late on”.
want to get Daniel James done asap. Nothing else in the pipeline but they were open to a number 10 at the start of the window so something could materialise late on.

OPINION
Were Leeds to follow up the capture of Kiko Casilla by signing £5million-valued James and a playmaker capable of filling Samuel Saiz’s boots, even the grumpiest, hardest-to-please White could have no complaints about the club’s ambition or willingness to push the boat out this month in the hope of securing automatic promotion. Leeds have punched above their weight all season, but the team is in need of reinforcements in the attacking positions, with the exit of Saiz highlighting a requirement for greater creativity in the final third. Jack Clarke has provided an impish and exciting new threat, while Pablo Hernandez has settled back into the main playmaker role without skipping a beat. Ezgjan Alioski has also been more effective on the left flank of late after a mixed few months. But Leeds need more options for Marcelo Bielsa, who can’t keep asking kids to do a man’s job.
