Leeds United are braced for more bids this month for Jack Clarke after Southampton tabled a £5million offer for the winger, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the Saints have lodged this biggest bid yet for the 18-year-old following the one worth £3million plus add-ons that was knocked back from Crystal Palace last month.

Football Insider report Leeds are “determined” to keep hold of Clarke this month despite the growing interest in his services, with the site previously mentioning strong interest from big guns Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal.

OPINION

Time for Leeds fans to start getting seriously worried? Not quite. The bids for Clarke are not yet close to the sums that would force Andrea Radrizzani and his board into the territory of taking the money. It would probably need Southampton to double the offer to tempt Leeds to cash in on their prize asset by 31 January. It would certainly not go down well with Whites if their club sold academy product Clarke at a time when he has emerged as real weapon in their automatic promotion push. The teenager has started the last two league matches after being used an impact substitute for two months as his pace and skill caused upteen headaches for defences struggling to cope as their bodies and minds tired. Clarke is not yet ready to play regular Premier League football, but he soon will be. Leeds must fend off all interest for the young gun and hope he can be a key part of their attacking arsenal next season in the English top flight, rather than second tier.
