Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa must risk his side being able to cope without midfielder Mateusz Klich as it’s clear he’s in dire need of a rest.

The 28-year-old looked completely out of fuel when playing in the 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and his performance wasn’t nothing to write home about as a result.

Klich was in fantastic form early in the season and a key reason why the Whites were in excellent form but it was easy to see in his latest outing that he was suffering from having played too many games.

The midfielder has featured 28 times across all competitions this season and due to the fact he is the type of player that never stops running for the cause, it’s obviously caught up with him.

While Klich is clearly an important player to the Whites’ style of play, if he is going to be able to perform to the highest standard he is capable of  he can’t continue being overused.

Given that the Whites next game is against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup, the opportunity to rest him must be taken.

It would be fantastic if Leeds could mount a respectable cup run in the prestigious tournament this year but at the end of the day, the priority for the club has to be winning promotion from the Championship.

QPR might be able to push Leeds to the limit in a game where Bielsa’s side could do with Klich to run the midfield but the Leeds boss simply has to risk his side still getting a result as it’s better that the 28-year-old is fresh for the upcoming clash with Derby County.
