OPINION
There has been plenty of love from Leeds United fans for Mateusz Klich this season and that was certainly the case during and after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. It felt like a momentous win for Leeds, not only their third on the trot, but one they had to really eke out after losing skipper Liam Cooper to injury in the first half. It also ended a horror run of results at Bramall Lane and provided further evidence of a real resilience in Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Leeds showed in the first few months of the season they could blow teams away with swashbuckling play. Now, they are churning out results when playing below their best. Klich, who was selected in an attacking central midfield role just ahead of partner Adam Forshaw, was at the heart of his side’s gritty and wonderfully effective performance, picking up the ball and driving at the home defence with real intent. He could easily have added to his five goals of what is turning out to be a memorable campaign for the 28-year-old.
