Leeds United fell to a damaging 4-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, and the result has seen many Leeds fans on Twitter call for reserve goalkeeper Jamal Blackman to be handed a starting spot.
The Whites were ripped apart by a rampant Baggies attack with goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell attracting criticism for his performance between the sticks.
The Northern Ireland international has been in the crosshairs of the fanbase in recent weeks, and many have now begun to call for the rarely-seen Blackman to be promoted in his place after the weekend defeat.
This is Futbol have rounded up some of the best tweets below.
COMMENTARY
These Leeds fans are obviously keen on seeing Blackman handed a rare chance in goal, and you can see why they believe he should given a chance. Peacock-Farrell, while obviously a brilliant young goalkeeper (he is still just 22 years old), is simply making too many errors at the moment. While manager Marcelo Bielsa is keen on insisting that the Northern Ireland international has not been at fault in recent weeks, it is clear for all to see that he has made mistakes. West Brom’s second goal on Saturday was a perfect example, with Matt Phillips’ shot from distance creeping under his hands. It was definitely a preventable goal, and while there were mistakes made by others in the build-up, Peacock-Farrell clearly has to take some responsibility. Blackman may not be a world-class stopper, but he has more first-team experience than his counterpart, and is in good form for the Under-23s.
As I’ve said before,
It’s probably time to give Blackman a chance just to take BPF out of the limelight for a while,
Remember a lot of folk were saying the same about Phillips and Cooper last season.
He’s young and will learn. #Lufc— Martin Threadgold (@FredgoldMartin) November 11, 2018
So the debate rages. BPF or Blackman. I know BPF is one of our own but he has never instilled me with confidence, so maybe time to give Blackman the gloves for a few games and see how he does. #lufc

That Charlie Austin Parklife video has really cheered me up after the #lufc calamity last night.
P.S. play Blackman in goal.

Don't think we need a knee jerk reaction for the next game. As Bielsa said himself not many teams have a better front 4 than West Brom. Would be nice to see Baker and Harrison involved more and Blackman has to be pushing for a start now #lufc

No point in signing Blackman on loan if he’s not given a chance now, BPF been at fault a few times. Bielsa has made some big calls on players, time for another one after Int. break #LUFC

BPF is a good keeper, lows shots are a massive weakness for him which is quite unfortunate as there tends to be a few of them, Blackman is a better shot stopper and dominates his box being 6ft8. Maybe time for a change. #lufc

Never had confidence in BPF, don’t see what harm it’d have to give Blackman a run in goal #lufc
