Former Leeds United midfielder Andy Couzens has delivered his verdict on the Whites’ 2-0 win against Bristol City on Saturday.

Leeds secured all three points thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez, but Couzens was still quick to criticise the result for not being “the best performance” that Marcelo Bielsa’s team have delivered this season.

However, he praised the team for getting a clean sheet via his personal Twitter account, and for still being “second in the league” ahead of Tuesday’s showdown with Reading.

He said: “Not the best performance today but a clean sheet and 3 points, still second in the league with half a fit squad big 3 points needed on Tuesday night now!”

OPINION

Couzens is right – this performance was not the best that we have seen from Leeds this season, despite them putting two past Bristol City. They need to win games more convincingly, as before the two goals they did not really threaten that much in attack. That is surprising coming from a team managed by Bielsa, especially considering what we have seen from Leeds at certain points this season.. Three points is still three points towards their promotion charge though, and for that, they cannot be faulted. Sometimes a team need to win ugly in order to get the results that they want and this is the perfect example of a team doing that. Fans may not have been entertained as much as they would have liked, but that will not mean a thing at the moment – at second in the Championship, they have a better chance than ever to finally fulfil their dream of returning to the Premier League.
